Why are my Chapter Notes inaccurate or showing chapters out of order?

The Chapter-by-Chapter Notes are currently the area where Twig occasionally experiences accuracy issues. While we're actively working to improve this feature, you may sometimes notice:

  • Chapters analyzed out of order
  • Missing analysis for certain chapters
  • Misidentified plot points or character references
  • Confusion about cause and effect sequences

What causes this issue?

This can happen with manuscripts of any length, though longer manuscripts (100,000+ words) may be more susceptible to these issues. If you saw an error message during analysis that mentioned "starting over," this was likely related to the problem you're experiencing.

What parts of the edit are affected?

The good news is that these issues are typically limited to the Chapter-by-Chapter Notes only. The other components of your edit should remain accurate and useful:

  • Editorial Letter - Your comprehensive overview and prioritized feedback
  • Revision Plan - Step-by-step guidance with specific locations for changes
  • Welcome Letter - Introduction to your edit

These reports draw from the full manuscript analysis and are generally not affected by chapter ordering issues.

What can you do?

  1. Focus on the Editorial Letter and Revision Plan first - These often contain the most actionable feedback and are typically accurate
  2. Request a re-run of your Chapter Notes - Contact us at [email protected], and we can attempt to re-run just the Chapter Notes. While this may not completely resolve the issue, it sometimes improves accuracy
  3. Use discernment - As with any editorial feedback (even from human editors), review suggestions critically and implement what serves your story

We're working on it
